"Sylvester" is from Sophie's second and final litter to Kobi.  He is named after the world famous De Beers Diamond Mine in South Africa, producers of the world's best diamonds and theres no doubt the name has rubbed off !

As well as a very strong female pedigree, Sylvester is line bred on Ch. Tullacrest Thief of Hearts, a cross we have had much success with previously.

After a short but successful junior campaign in Australia, culminating in his Aust Championship at just 19 months and including 2 Reserve Challenges at both major specialties in NSW, Sylvester is now enjoying an extended holiday in the UK with Gary and Marina Clarke, Claygar BCs and its fair to say in two years of selective showing he has more than surpassed expectations in a very big way!!

He is our first and only export to date and has set the benchmark so incredibly high, he will be an almost impossible act to follow .....

Syl is breaking records and gathering fans wherever he goes, not just a great show dog but a wonderful ambassador for both our kennel and the breed in general, we are so very proud of this special boy.

A heartfelt thanks to Gary and Marina Clarke at Claygar for making a dream a reality.

His current show record at CHAMPIONSHIP level stands at:

25 Challenge Certificates
21 Best of Breeds
4 BEST IN GROUP (Group 1) awards, the most ever won
8 Group Placements
Best in Show All breeds - only 2 others have done it !
Reserve Best in Show, All Breeds
Best in Show & Reserve BIS Specialty
2009 and 2010 Top Border Collie UK
Border Collie of the Year 2010 Contest Winner
Joint Runner Up at the 2009 "Contest of Champions" (Top 64 all breeds by invitation)
Multiple Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show awards All Breeds - Open Show level

SYL RE-WRITES THE RECORD BOOKS .....

The only BC in history to be awarded 4 Group 1 awards as well as Best in Show and RUBIS awards;
The only BC in breed history to take successive Group 1 awards;
The highest awarded Australian import ever and
The most successful Australian import ever

Not just a great show dog, as a sire Sylvester is proving to be very successful with winning progeny both in the UK and Europe.

He now has to his credit, multiple progeny who have won classes at championship show level, a challenge winning daughter and several reserve challenge winners.

Special congratulations to Judith Gregory and Tonkory Up and Coming who were successful in winning the Yearling Dog Class at this year's Crufts Dog Show, 8 other Sylvester progeny were Crufts qualified.

In Europe, Sylvester sired both puppy winners at the 2010 World Dog Show (as well as 2nd place) and at the recent 2011 World Dog Show in Paris, his son Simaro Dressed in Black won the Dog CAC at just 19 months of age!

South Wales Kennel Association – October 2010

Open Dog: 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.). Black and White at the top of his game in both ring presence and showmanship, in super body and coat condition. Overall I found this dog very difficult to fault both in conformation and soundness, his head is both harmonious and masculine with very good eye, mouth & ear placement all giving a very good alert expression, correct length of neck, good wither definition on a well balanced & angulated body of very good height to length ratios, well boned very sound limbs & good feet which he puts to excellent use in action & portrays a very easy flowing side gait in profile movement. CC and BOB and Group 3. Breed Judge – Nick Grosvenor.

Group 3: Clarke & Wheatley's, Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust). Border Collie of excellent quality and type, good on the move, correct construction. Group Judge – Meg Purnell-Carpenter.

Belfast Dog Show Society - September 2010

A small quality entry. How this breed has come to a high level of excellence in such a short time. Gone are the days when you could find a number of different types. Enthusiasts have given time and dedication to have the high class examples we have today. My notes are brief on individual dogs, but suffice to say all my winners were good classy dogs, representing the breed for type, quality and soundness. DCC and Best of Breed was Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers. I judged him recently when I gave him a second Group placement. He is a World Class Dog and at his peak, I was sorry he was unable to represent the Breed in the Group, as I understand he was second earlier in the day, in the Champion Stakes.

Open Dog: Two great representatives of the breed, could win anywhere, their records speak for themselves, they don’t come much better than this. 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers, CC and BoB. Breed Judge – Jean Lanning, JP

Darlington Dog Show Society  - September 2010

Open Dog: This was a superb class where I could have awarded many red cards. 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.), very impressive, masculine in every sense of the word, has tremendous ring presence which Champions are made of. Fantastic outline with superb topline and incredible hindquarters, excellent turn of stifle, well developed second thigh, well let down hocks which gave him the power to motor round the ring which was a joy to watch, carrying his head down which emphasised his herding instinct, stood parallel, excellent substance & depth of rib, a superb reach of neck, excellent shoulder and upper arm, plus he has the advantage of a full collar & good coat, to add to the overall picture. He has a beautifully finished head, good skull, correctly placed stop & full, well filled muzzle, together with correct oval eye & semi-erect ears, giving the desired expression. Well handled & beautifully groomed. To own a dog such as this must be a dream. Not only is it a great achievement to win the CC and BoB, but to go on and win Group 1 in a fiercely competed Pastoral Group. Breed Judge – Sandra Wigglesworth.

Best was Clarke & Wheatley’s, Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.), Border Collie. Workman-like dog with clear signs of the Australian influence in this breed. Beautiful head well balanced, well muscled body. Typical movement and head carriage. Perfect coat and disposition. He was always ready to serve his handler. He was as showy as a Border Collie should be. Group & Best in Show Judge – Támas Jakkel.

Richmond Dog Show Society  - September 2010

Open Dog: 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.). Masculine without exaggeration, strength to head, defined stop, soft eye, broad skull, arched neck, clean front, shape to ribs, level back, gentle slope to croup & definition to quarters, sound action, A1 construction. CC, BoB, Group 1 and RBIS. Breed Judge – Stuart Mallard.

Group 1 was the Border Collie, Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.), has previously had a G2 from me, he is probably now approaching his best & the extra maturity shines through. I very much like his head with all its excellent properties well laid out & no hint of exaggeration, his neck is clean & his shoulders well laid, developed ribcage with a firm topline & best of tailsets & carriage, add onto this well muscled and defined quarters which allow him to display his excellent balance in action. Group Judge – Rodney Oldham.

RBIS was the Border Collie, Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.),
handsome and presented in absolutely magnificent condition, well proportioned with excellent body proportions and very good bone, his ribs are well sprung, chest deep and loins muscular, movement was free & smooth giving that mark of endurance & overall quality. A credit to his breeder and owners. Best in Show Judge – Tom Johnston.

City of Birmingham - September 2010

Open Dog: Excellent class full of quality males who all stood their ground with aplomb. As in Limit Dog there was quite a diversity of type but all most attractive in their varying degrees. 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.). I have followed this Antipodeans’ career with quite an interest since arriving from Australia. I have judged in Australia & know how easy it is for dogs to be titled going on their points system, but this lad clearly merited his status, as he has done in the UK. I was so glad to have the opportunity to judge him, he has flown the flag with great credit, as his many top successes have proved, so I enjoyed the chance to dig deep & find out for myself. Bred in the purple, he has that panache and ring presence that makes Champions, something you can’t breed for. Such a quality head, super balance and most beautiful but masculine eye & expression, with that glint of arrogance, superbly presented & handled, possesses good strong neck, terrific overall make and shape, well covered muscular body, strong in loin, well boned strong legs & tight feet, excellent rear angulation allowing him that effortless drive from the rear, very good side extension, as sound as you can get, headed a super class. CC his 11th and BOB. Breed Judge – Geoff Duffield.

Bournemouth Canine Association – August 2010

The two top classes in both the dogs and bitches were full of quality stock with some going cardless. Open Dog: 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.), of lovely type & overall balance, this dog has the good looks, but still has the look of a dog capable of a good days work. Lovely smooth clean head, well carried so sound in bone & body, all well covered and in a good double coat which fits his lovely shape, in top order, he is very responsive to his owner's commands and looks a picture standing in profile & moves as one would expect from his sound conformation. CC, BOB and Group 2. Breed Judge - Jack Bispham.

Group 2: Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust), Border Collie. I see a new import from Australia. High Class, fills the eye with type & quality, lovely size, head and eye all correct, the very best of legs & feet, moving soundly with the special style that is such an important characteristic of this breed.
Group Judge - Jean Lanning, JP.

Paignton and District Fanciers Association – August 2010

A quality entry. Open Dog: What a Class, so close, unfortunately only one first prize. I would have been happy to award the CC to any of the 5 dogs placed in this class. 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.). Super Collie in all respects, in great condition, good head & eye, lovely balanced outline, well muscled, moving so well, looking great in profile movement. CC and BOB and pleased to see him awarded Group 3. Breed Judge - Pat Lister.

Group 3: Clarke & Wheatley's Border Collie, Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust). A very eye-catching dog, put down to perfection, in full coat. Good head with lovely eye and sound well ribbed body. A true action coming and going away.
Group Judge - Bob Gregory.

Working and Pastoral Breeds Association of Wales - April 2010

Super Class. Open Dog: 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.). Lovely dog on top form, moved out so well, very good outline and proportions, masculine in  head, strong neck and very good front, in grand body, holds a firm topline, good ribs, strong rear, true and typy in action. CC and BOB. Breed Judge - Jeff Horswell.

Border Collie Club of Great Britain - March 2010

Open Dog: 1st Clarke & Wheatley's Sh Ch/Aust Ch Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.). Quality oozes from this dog, preparation spot on, shown expertly, beautiful to go over and a picture to watch going round the ring. I asked exhibitors to show off their dogs and this team met the challenge, his preparation for the show was faultless, he showed and he moved around the ring like a Champion, a deserving CC. Breed Judge – Doug Collier.

Three Counties Championship Show

Open. An exceptionally tough class, full of quality, with my first 5 being of excellent breed type.
1.Clarke & Wheatley’s Aust. Ch. Danari De Beers (Imp Aust.); 2yrs B & W male of excellent quality & type. A medium sized male, who impressed me greatly by his presence in the ring, correct head & masculine expression, dark mask, dark eye, correct ear set, correct reach of neck into well laid shoulders and good forehand angles with correct length of lower leg, so often lacking in the breed today. Good bone and nice tight feet, correct top line into well-moulded croup & tail set, good length of tail. Correct angles and proportions in his hindquarters delivering good drive on the move. He has a good overall body shape, without being overdone in any way and he was well balanced throughout. It was his movement that impressed me most, he was sound both ways with that classic breed side gait, showing good reach and drive with minimal lifting on the front, certainly one that could have gone all day. He was shown in excellent coat and good firm condition and handled to perfection. An honour to award this dog his 2nd CC, BOB and a pleasure to see him 2nd in a very strong Pastoral Group.
Judge: Gary Gray

Working and Pastoral Breeds of Wales
